Even the youngest kids understand our trucks

Yesterday morning we had some friends from out-of-state come visit us. They have a 3-year-old son.

The kid came right out of the car and began getting excited about the 'red truck'. He ended up pulling his dad across the lawn to get closer to it. The dad showed no emotional towards it at all.

I was amazed at the kid's natural appreciation. The odd part is....it doesn't even look like a truck yet but he knew somehow that it was something to behold.

This is what he saw....just a bare cab and bed with no fenders....and he was jumping up and down like it was the best thing he saw in a long time.
Now that was cool.

I hope I have created a future FTE member.

Tom

I didn't think that was possible.
Hopefully the child will be able to survive his fathers upbringing and keep his love for these beauties.

Guys, I know many "men" who don't have the least bit of interest in my trucks, or any old car. To them it's just another used car. That's the depressing thing, most of the guys I know are more interested in watching over paid Neanderthals playing kids' games than wrenching on old iron. Fortunately I have FTE and one neighbor who is also into old trucks.

This kid started driving at an early age. I lived directly across from the 18th hole of a public golf course. One day-shortly after this picture was taken) he went out in the garage, climbed in the truck which had been backed in. He must have started playing with the column shift and he rolled the truck across the street onto the rough of the 18th hole.

I'm a young 29 I'm in to all sorts of old metal. When I was a kid I use to help dad restore his 20s early 30s MM and twin city tractors. I like these old ford trucks and heck I like old vehicles in general.
I'm also very big into Subaru imprezas, as that is my main transportation.

I remember talking to a guy about my truck...to his credit he'd never seen it, but his remark was "Well, I bet the old guys think it's cool."

Yeah...they do. But so do the young guys and the kids. I can't stop at a gas station or a toll booth without some kid, or some guy, or some lady saying "Hey, nice truck!"

I don't have any car buddies where I live now. The guys I know here are all pretty dumbfounded by my willingness to tear an engine down to its bare components and build it back again. But I'm evangelizing them!

For me the bug was genetic. Mom's dad raced a made from scratch 32 Ford Roadster at Bonneville in the 50's. When I was eight we found old 8mm film of it. She always loved hot rods and classics. Dad's dad was a mechanic and rebuilt a 56 F100 when dad was a kid. We always wrenched our own vehicles while I was growing up. I hope my kids will catch the same bug...

And Imabaka said they're a young 29...I'm probably an old 30...but I've been on FTE since before I could drink (alcohol anyway )

I have multiple and thankfully they all like old ford trucks, I keep fearing one of them may decide to like old Studebakers or something then I'd have a battle royal.

Good for that kid, he knows a good thing when he sees it. The paintwork looks great!!
Most of my neighbors think my truck is nothing but an eyesore. I keep it in the garage as much as possible so they won't call the city and complain. I am in a really old neighborhood that is rapidly changing with new McMansions everywhere, some as much as 1.1 Million. They just don't get the Old Truck thing. When I do get if running and driving I will let them see it a lot as it will be a driver.

I came across this photo the other day. Not a great shot of the kids but today, they are in their '30s with their own families. They have always been around hot-rods.

Wish I still had those wheels....

Nice photo, E-Dawg.
Do the grandkids get to ride in your '49 too?
