HELP...battery charge problem

My 62 C600 has been havin an issue. Ever since i bought the truck a month ago every time i go to start it i had to jump it. I figured this was on account of the **** battery that came with it, so wednesday i bought a new battery. Truck started great until this morning...i was headed out to haul some rock and found a dead battery. The alternator is charging fine...the cables are new and when the truck is running the charge gauge reads in the positive between 30 and 60 (seems high to me). A buddy of mine told me to start it pull the positive cable reinstall it and see if it sparks. If it sparks, which it did, he said my voltage regulator was at fault. Is this true? This thing has about got me to pulling my hair out im afraid to take it out on a job too far from town for fear its gonna leave me stranded. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Bryce

Oh and once u jump it the first time it will start every time until the next morning

Sounds like something is drawing down your battery KOEO . Quick and dirty is to pull the negative cable each time you park , or install a battery disconnect switch . Otherwise , you need to find what is draining your battery while the engine is off . A multimeter with amp readings works good to find a draw .

I have installed several , a few on my own machines . Some find it easier and cheaper than fixing the drain .

I always disconnect a battery cable and put my test light in series between the battery cable and battery. The light should be on indicating a draw. Then just go around and disconnect things until the light goes out. Pull fusses, disconnect the voltage regulator, alternator maybe? A bad diode in the alternator is a real common cause of a drain...

Edit: I just noticed I replied to two of your threads... I'm not stalking you, really! Hahaha!
