I guess I'm glad I never got a 3v V10. Coming from a 2v V10, the 6.2 is a nice improvement.

if a read mark k thread correctly, the tq5spd and tq6spd gear ratios 1-5 are the same in both units, #6 is additional overdrive gear

driving around the trucks unloaded, the 6spd is better for me, it pulls lower rpms and nets me better mpg, but all other situations i prefer the 5spd, the factory tuning on the 6spd is horrible for hualing/towing- utter garbage i dont get it (yes using tow/haul mode)

im not really seeing fuel savings with the 12 truck id hoped for and was told to expect, crappy

Here's the gear ratios of the old 5-spd vs the new 6-spd.
3.11
2.11
1.55
1.0
.71

3.97
2.31
1.51
1.14
.85
.67

The six speed is geared a bit deeper in first, second and fourth; while the 5-spd's overdrive splits the 6-spd's two overdrive gears.

I prefer the 5 speed also. The 6 speed shifting is very lazy. It's a little better when tuned but not as good as the 5 speed.

Going from a e4od to the 5r110 took me a little getting use to as it is a completely different beast, but the more I drove it and very much more when towing I've been very impressed. I wonder if they are trying to hard with the 6 speed to make the mpg better for the GOV?

I think maybe leaving the gears the same and having a 2nd overdrive option to engage. Also, having the 4.30 gears in the v10 and on the long steeper climbs it would drop 1 gear and hold it. It would of been nice to have 4.10 gears in the 6.2 for a more daily ride with occasional towing but gas mileage isn't a concern for myself as it might be for others.

The 6 speed should be better with these gearing numbers but where the EPA thinks it should shift for mpg and where we want it to shift aren't always the same. Tuning as always will get better with time.
