~Perhaps they will become stupider and/or more careless
On a more serious note - they are fewer all the time, and will eventually become extinct in the immediate vicinity, which is what was wanted. The "VACUUM MONSTER" is eating them up, and not giving any back!
* I dump them in a field a hundred yards from my home, which is where they came from to begin with.
Now all of the jokes are going to start - I can see that already. Fortunately I'm in a very good mood regarding the outcome of all of this.

Sooo true! I gave Smokie the Advantix about three weeks ago now and he'll occasionally scratch himself behind the ears but nothing major. Luckily I never saw a flea on him, but he did immediately pick up ticks which prompted me to get some Advantix. And I'd know for sure instantly if he got fleas since his signature move is to run right up to me and flop on his back for "belly-scratchies." It's pretty funny to see him run full bore across the lawn and do a barrel role starting about ten feet away and slide right up to my feet on his back!
Here's Smokie and the Bandit.

Both of my Fuzzy Kiddo's are inside destroying fleas - I need to watch them so that Woola doesn't pee on the carpets
Life is like that - there is always a downside....
Woola is GREADY!
I let Rufuss and Woola in, and Woola stole Rufusses rawhide bone - even though I gave them one each...
(I took it back, and returned it to Rufie)

Animals do that at times. My white BC, Spike, adopted a litter of kittens as his own. He would lay across the doorway into their room, and guard them. I'd ask him if he'd like to see the kittens, and he'd jump and walk in with me. I don't know if any of you can follow this, but he'd stand at attention until I told him it's alright. He'd then nose each one as if counting them, then lay down next to the basket they were in, and curl himself up around it.

I get this ? A lot, and I am sure most of the answers help, most of the time. What I have been told, by a former pro show-dog owner, is that you do not wet the dog first..... Apply most any soap, work it in, add water to work it in, and let it stand for 10 mins. The rinse the animal off. Next: you ca buy flea bombs to put in most rooms in your home, vacate for a couple hours. Next: wash all the bedding where the animal sleeps. AND: take care of the yard area and garage, the latter can be done with a spray bomb just as in the house.
Lastly, there are monthly pills, or meds that you drag down their back, most of which will handle ticks and fleas. Most BC's bathed about every 6 weeks, though it depends on areas and the nose of the owner.....some are more sensitive to dog odors than others.
I am a mobile dog groomer, and always willing to listen, learn & share.
