The way forums work is you post your questions in the proper forum for whichever engine or vehicle platform you're inquiring about.
This is the NorCal "welcome" thread for new members, not the tech forum you want.

I was in the middle of posting my response when my moms physical therapist showed up and I had to get my mom situated for her therapy.

New Ford Truck Owner and Member
I am new in the Ford community now since selling my Chevy K3500 Duramax. Loved the truck but hated the dually part. As my needs changed my rides have also and I am sporting around in an 08 F350 Super Duty with four wheel, not six! Don't know much about what I have so I am looking to find out how to care for this beast. The truck isn't new but I am new to the Ford family (just to clarify). My truck has the 6.4 Turbo diesel with over 270K miles. I have a leak in the rear exhaust manifold so next week the shop will do a body lift to replace the part and remove the two tuner wiring systems previous owners have left in the engine compartment and under the dash. My wrench tells me to replace the part it is easier to lift the cab off the frame and he suggest removing the egr parts and the DEF parts as well. Cool, I like easy. The wrench also said he will install the correct tuner on the truck to give me better performance. What tuner I don't know yet. My first improvement I want to do to is add more life to the engine with the oil it uses. I like AMSOIL 15W-30 for diesel engines. I've heard if I put Amsoil in an engine with high mileage the seals will become weak and then I have oil leakages. Don't want that and can't find any truth to that fable so far. So, I was hoping to get some wisdom from career Ford Truck owners... How bout it? Thanks, Kevin in NC.

I was about to tell you to NOT remove the EGR and DEF stuff because you won't pass smog here in California if you do. Then I saw at the end of your post you're from North Carolina!
Ya posted in the NorCal (Northern California) forum, not North Carolina!
Also, the regional chapters are a great place to ask for help, but you really get a ton more help by posting tech questions in the proper tech forum, which in this case would be the 6.4L PSD forum.

After a few years of lurking, I have finally started to get involved in these forums. Got some good info to fix the self system and it was mentioned that I should upgrade to a paid subscription. When the budget allows I did. Just wanted to say thanks to everybody for their feedback and how tools. FTE is a great resource.

Hello guys I just sent off a request to join the group. Im in sac county and I bought this thing a few weeks ago. I figured if I was going to buy a truck I would just buy one and done and was looking smog/inspection exempt so here it is, 97 350 444 ccdrw zf5 western hauler interior 167xxx miles (needs a bit of work but im enjoying learning this thing). I have owned many vehicles and worked as a ford tech many years ago but this is my first leap into the diesel world and so far its pretty fantastic.
