5Star Tuning

Hello,

Just wanted to comment on the 5Star Tuning SCT Tuner for my truck. First off, it is nice to actually feel the difference when this was installed. I have the full banks kit on with their chip, seat of the pants was ok, but after telling Mike at 5Star tuning about the mods, this tuner wakes up this beast. I would love to time a 0-60, feels like in the low 8 seconds. It definitely moves for a big suv. Definitely worth the money!! This is just on 87 tunes.

I would love to do this, but I hear there are no real MPG gains. Is that true?

No mpg gains if your foot is always into it! I`m running the 89 tunes, eco, power and towing. the eco tune gives me about .5mpg increase in town which is the majority of my driving. the towing tune is what I really wanted the tuner for and it really wakes up the V-10 when towing. completely different truck. the towing mpg went u close to .8 mpg mostly because I can now run in O/D where before the slightest headwind or slight uphill would kick it into 3rd and stay there. the power tune is unbelievable!

Worth every penny!

Most of the SCT tuners have data logging capabilities so i would check it out on your tuner. Unfortunately I do not know which tuner you purchased but but plug it in and check it out. As far as the mpg savings go a highway on-ramp and stoplights are the worst enemies of the gas savings. Once somebody has a tune its usually pedal to the metal when they notice the difference

Where can I find the pcm code on my 2002 v10 x? Is it next to the parking brake pedal? Can I use this on my x and the 99 f250 work truck or do i need 2 separate programmers.

It's on the PCM.

You need two different programmers. Each programmer get's VIN locked to a single vehicle.

Thanks Stewart. I tow a 16' enclosed trailer for work everyday and was hoping I could get some results with a tune. I know my diesel friends love their tunes.

NP, Bri.

Just don't expect the same results on your gasser as your friends get with their diesel rigs. There's a lot of energy left on the table when it comes to stock programming for diesels, compared to gas rigs.
