Did I read the one guy right and he ran the engine with the transmission pan off?
I don't think that is something I would ever do. The blowing out of the cooler I would
have no problem doing.
Maybe Mark Kovalsky will show and comment on the dry running.

interesting. i dont have any problem, but since it's a cheap part, i might just go ahead and change it out while i do my tranny fluid and filters change. i'm about 300 miles from my scheduled tranny fluid change. thanks for the post! it brings things to our perspective.

If you Take Just that TFT Sensor out you Get about 1/4qt More Fluid Out

And Blowing With compressed AIr at the TP Filter GOT LOTS MORE Out Maybe 1.5qt more fluid

My Final Amout is 12.5qt TFluid Changed

Seams to be shifting better

The Temp stays Steady as a ROCK

Fuel Filters all Looked GREAT Gotta Git the Milage They Ran for 27318miles Id like to Cut Fuel Filters to 25K schedule
A Guy Really Needs a Fuel gauge to get the Most out the Fuel Filters
Maybe Only a Teaspoon Water Out the WIF Drain Hasn't been drained since Last Fuel Filters

u could drain all ur tranny fluid into a clean container, drop the pan, and change the internal filter. i know most folks say they dont need to do it, but i'm paranoid. i change it every other tranny fluid change. the external filter is where i change it religiously every 30k miles.

when i first changed it, it was black on the inside. well, when i change my fluid this week, i'll tear into the internal filter and take some pics. but whole world of difference when it came to shifting. obvious difference when i first changed it out. she started shifting smoother. i guess new fluid and new filters do make a difference.

My temp read 8129 degrees also when the sensor crapped out. Unfortunately for me, I was 2000 miles from home and my tools so I had to take her in to the stealership.

Sorry to hear bout ur plight, buddy, but some of these nice folk on here work for dealerships. There are also a bunch of dealerships which are pro-customer and reasonable. Hence, we should not assume that all dealerships or those that work there are in essence, bad. A good dealership may have an idiot working there too. Nobody's perfect. Lol. I feel u, brother.

I would NEVER start the engine with the pan off! That's just asking to have to replace the trans pump.

Come on guys its not like we're going to go out and take a transmission pan off and run at Baja California run with our truck in the pan off

Running at 10 seconds with the pan of this to get
a little extra fluid out is not gonna burn up the pump

It won't even be dry in 10 seconds
