Looking at the picture it looks like it would be a 2.4 but in real life the color itself is a different shade, not really a pink or maroon.

So what does that 2.4 translate into? It would appear to me right around the min of 800ppm.

I can't read the numbers very well on your chart.

What color was the test strip before dipping? Remember that the strips have an expiration date and also need to be stored at cooler room temperature. If the pad was brownish before dipping it's expired.

Not expired, and it wasn't brownish?? We'll see what the next check brings us a couple of months.

I've seen that more orange-mud color before and it did seem to relate to old test strips. Strips are cheap though, so you can certainly do a second test to see if it's the same.

How did you test? I normally just clip the strip on the end of a long hemostat and dunk in the degas bottle. As long as you do this when the coolant is in the proper test temp range around 75F this is good. The degas bottle has circulation and is not an overflow container that the test instructions warn about.

That's how I tested it, maybe next weekend I'll recheck it, my 89 super coupe has my attention now, damn harmonic balancer committed suicide.

No, you can do the test from any point in the system that has constant circulation, and the degas bottle has constant circulation. You are not supposed to test from a location that doesn't have circulation such as an overflow / recovery tank. The degas bottle is not an overflow / recovery tank.
