tranny & engine oil cooler installs

I want to put a transmission & oil cooler on my truck. I'm not going to mount them infront of the radiator because I have an A/C condensor, I think that adds enough heat as it is. I will keep the tranny cooler inline with my radiator cooler.

Where have you guys mounted remote coolers on your trucks?

In front of the A/C condenser. I've had a transmission cooler for 40 years on my bump and only had to rebuild the trans twice. I used to carry a 12' slide-in camper and tow a 6000lb boat.

That's funny right there.

I'm going to be towing a camper and running the A/C. I just wanted to add tranny cooler for peace of mind. I didn't want to mount it ahead of the radiator because I didn't want to add any heat in that area. I was thinking of mounting the cooler along the frame or behind the front bumper. I will look around the front for a location.

I hung my trans cooler off the center grille support , this puts about 3" or so between the radiator and trans cooler .

Jowilker is right. The engineers provided plenty of cooing area in the oil pans on 302s and 390s.
It is never a good idea to bring motor oil under pressure outside an engine with remote filters or coolers or "wet gauges" with plastic and rubber tubes or whatever. I have seen disasters from these installations.

Anthony, The newer radiators have a cooling area in the bottom of them for the tranny. I used the one on mine when I swapped in the C6.

These ol boys will not sit and idle in the hot without running the gauge up. As long as you are forward moving there is plenty fresh air blowing through and it will stay happy even while pulling a trailer.

You can actually put the coolers where ever you can mount them. Leave enough room to put an electric fan on it. I've seen coolers mounted everywhere but all of them had an electric fan mounted to them.

Yup. You can even put them in the cab.
