Fixed yoke or slip yoke?

Hey there, me again.

Anyone know if a NP208F is a fixed yoke or slip yoke transfer case? My transfer case seal on the yoke for the rear drive shaft is leaking ATF.

I know my rear drive shaft has a slip yoke in it, so does this mean my 208F is a fixed yoke transfer case?

As far as leaks go, that's the only leak in my entire drive-line, and I'm eventually going to get the seal to get it fixed.

It does seem like my rear main seal leaks just a little bit, however. I think that one might just have to drip for a while.

If you have the slip yoke in the driveshaft, then your transfer case is fixed yoke. Most of them seem to be fixed yoke, though I believe they could be either way.

If you think your rear main seal is marginal, you can try some of the engine stop leak stuff. It attacks and softens the rubber seals in the engine, and can stop a minor leak. I was also told a small can of brake fluid in the oil would slow leaks down. I tried it and it did seem to help.

Alright! Thanks, Franklin! Seeing as how the seal is relatively cheap, that'll get taken care of in short order. It'll be a good time to change the ATF in the transfer case as well.

I'm not too sold on any of those snake oils in motors, and truth be told, it could just be where the lifter cover on my 300 probably isn't sealed up tight and it's blowing onto the back side of the bell housing's little access panel behind the oil pan. I do know the front of the engine has a small leak around the crankshaft seal, the bottom of the timing cover, or the front lip of the oil pan. It likes to run down the pan there as well.

If it leaked out or not you should check the level after the drive shaft is put back in.
What if the level was low to start with?
