Only one Bocephus song???

Ok, flame suit on!

What's with "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)" It's just another typical Alan Jackson song trying to make a quick buck on an american tradgedy

100 greatest country songs

Well, I'm sad to say I'm old enough to know them all. They forgot "pop-a top" , "The perfect country and western song", "Rose colored glasses","Lock, stock and teardrop", and "Neon moon". Damn, I'm too young to feel this damn old. And what's with this "elder user" crap under my name?

100 greatest country songs

"I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow" man can't believe that song ranked so high,,,Bob Dylan wrote that song along time ago they added a few new lyrics to make it fit the movie.Unless they used the one that was made in the 20's..
I hope no one hurts me but Stand by your Man souldn't be number 1.. I think country boy can surivive is alot better..And it shows that they didn't go by how old the song was by putting I am a Man Of CS so high up there...I think Conway Twitty should be number one

They didn't say anything about mama, or trains, or trucks, or gettin' drunk.

Boy does number 75 bring back memories. A pretty blonde, a little country waltz, and then a little polka if you know what I mean!

For the most part, I like the list. I'd put "He Stopped Loving Her Today" at number 1.

there are a few newer songs surprising me in the list, but those are obviously very popular tunes.

I agree with many of them on the list. Maybe not in that order. Some of those newer country songs wouldn't make in IMHO.

Most of this country these days is warmed over 80's rock. (although I do like Brad Paisley) I'll take the Statler bros over Brooks and Dunn anytime.

Yeah, I love country, but not a lot of that 70's country-rock crap. That "Where Were You" song sucks too. The saddest part of that list is that I know all but two of the songs by heart, and I had heard those two before! Can't wait to get my new stereo in the truck, and start cranking out some of these.
Overall, the list is pretty good, but it needed more Dwight Yoakam and Hank Williams Jr., less Lynn Anderson. And Ray Charles? I don't know what they think qualifies as country........

By far the Greatest Country & Western song is called, You Never Called Me By My Name. Ask for it and give it a listen.

Cool 100 greatest country songs

I was just a little surprised with the number one song of all time being Tammy Winnette's "Stand by your man" but I think its deserving though.

100 greatest country songs

There were some song that should have been on there such as, Teddy Bear by Red Sovine, or Luchenbach Texas by Waylon Jennings.
Most of what was in the list is good, but some are over rated, others are under rated, and a few shouldn't even be on there.

100 greatest country songs

The list is too slanted toward the country "boom" in the mid 90's for my liking. There's some pretty questionable songs on that list.

Fancy?
I Hope You Dance?
She's in Love WIth the Boy?
Shoulda Been a Cowboy?

As for Tammy Wynette being number #1, it'd be a cold day in hell when she was #1 on any list of mine (well, maybe one).

There were some glaring omissions IMHO, but I could go on for days on that topic.

I'm with RangerXLT, You Never Even Called Me By My Name is a classic, I'd also add Waylon Jenning's "Get Naked with Me" to a list of song along those lines.
