4wd help

Hi-
When I switch the mode from A4WD to 4-HI, the light blinks between the two and continues to do so, but when i switch to 4-LO it stays solid, same with A4WD. Is this normal?
Thanks

No, it is not normal for the lights to blink, alternating or otherwise. This could indicate dirty contacts down on the shift motor mounted to the back of the transfer case.

Is there a reason it would only do this in 4-HI?

Yes, if my theory is correct then the issue is with the contacts that close only when in 4H.

I switched it in and out a few times and it stays solid now, seems to be working as well.

My other question is that the fuel guage seems really sensitive to incline, even when basically full- is it normal for the indicated level to fluctuate so?

No it is not. This usually means one of the flow control baffles inside the fuel tank broke.

Will this be a problem, or will it just affect the accuracy of the gauge?

Both, besides the irritation of the fuel gauge movement, it could cause the FP to suck air when on hills.

How hard is it to have fixed? In terms of cost... I don't have the time now to do it myself, unless it takes about 30 minutes with limited tools. Haha

Yes, replacing the tank is the only solution. Also, if you might want to consider changing the fuel pump assembly at the same time. I know it's more money, but it will save you the trouble of dropping the tank again.
