Question 2001Ranger 3.0 top dead center

How do I find top dead center, I'm working alone.

If all you want is tdc, just line up the timing marks on the crank pulley with the pointer. But if you're needing tdc compression stroke, pull the #1 spark plug, place your finger over the plug hole, using a ratchet turn the engine, the correct way, till you feel compression, then continue turning till the marks line up.
