Best tuner? Opinions wanted
Just purchased a 5er and am thinking a tuner may assist with somewhat better fuel economy, or at a minimum help out with the moutain grades.
I have no intention of doing a DPF delete due to the emissions testing here.
Currently I am leaning towards the Edge Evolution. I have read through a number of threads here but got the impression that tuners have changed somewhat thanks to the EPA.
Any opinions, guidance, or personal feedback will be appreciated.

DPF-ON is going to be the Banks Six Gun. No doubt. But that's my OPINION. I can tell you if I absolutely HAD to leave the DPF on, that's the tuner I would buy. I actually ordered the Six Gun before I bought the H&S Mini Max, but I had ordered from AutoAnything and they told me after two weeks that it was on back order for two more weeks. Then I found out that if you buy Banks Products from a retailer then Banks doesn't like to troubleshoot those products or honor warranty or provide technical assistance (First hand conversation with a member of Banks staff). And if you buy direct, it's usually much more expensive.
The common problem with questions like yours is that it's all based on what tuner people chose to purchase first. No one will admit they spent $1000+ on a tuner and think they would get better results with something else. Very few have ran multiple tuners on identical vehicles. So it really boils down to who has sold the most and had enough satisfied customers to recommend that brand of tuner.

On thing to keep in mind is the Banks 6-gun is an inline programmer. It does NOT overwrite the factory flash as most all other tuners do. It simply fakes out some of the sensor inputs. So by design, you are assured your latest ECM flash with the latest updates and your shift strategy are untouched (if that matters).
Most other tuner flashes are modified versions of early factory calibrations depending on when they started the mods. They also replace the shift strategy to avoid burning out the transmission with the power gains...some folks don't like the harsh shifting or shift points. One tell tale feature of an early tune is a DPF-ON tune that regens while in Park and running the rpms up at 1200rpm. Factory cals starting mid-08 or thereabouts don't do that.
But key point is the EPA has started cracking down on the tuner guys that do deletes. First it was Edge, recently it was H&S.
