The only piece of that I can answer is that the C6 usually shipped with an NP-205. The NP-203 usually shipped as a divorced t-case, so it COULD be used with nearly anything. The 205 is married to the C6 using a Ford tailshaft housing.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe after 75 they were all np203. I believe I'm not positive
False. NP205 was standard (part time 4x4) the NP203 was an option (full time 4x4) Kinda strange because the 205 is a much better unit since it is internally all gear driven, plus can be shifted into 2wd
I am pretty sure most '76 f-100's that were four speeds came with an np435 actually from a 2wd truck with a 10 spline input shaft and were married with Dana 21 transfercases.
We need NumberDummy to comment on this or someone else with access to a MPC. The NP203 and 205 were also married with the NP435, but I'm not sure what years they did it. I have personally never heard of a 78 or 79 with the Dana 21, but I know they used it on earlier models, I just don't know which ones.
NP203s and NP205s were the only available transfer cases. Only 73-76.5 F250s got the divorced transfer cases, all other models had married cases.
That is not true 4 speed F100 4x4s definitely came with the married Dana 21 single speed transfer case atleast in 1973, I think they probably used it until the F100 4x4 was discontinued in 76 but not sure about that.
Also 73-77.5 F250s came with the divorced transfer case, not 73-76.5
