i screwed up the AC in my crown vic.
after chasing a small leak in the 99 crown vic for the past 6 years, i finally had enough and decided to fix it. last year i broke out the "sniffer" after recharging it and found the leak. the valve in the low pressure charge port was bad, letting a small bubble every 3-4 minutes in the soap water spray.
last week i tried the ac, and of course it did not work, so it was time.
i went to remove the valve, and it broke off in the drier.
oh well, time to order a new $14 drier. it came in friday afternoon. i put it on yesterday, and drew a vacuum for 2 hours to boil off any moisture in the system. once there was no more vapor coming out of the pump, it was time to charge. 36 ounces of R-134A later, 81 degrees ambient temp, 42 lbs on the low side, 190 on the high side, AND 35.7 DEGREES OUTPUT TEMP IN CENTER VENT!!!
I THINK I GOT IT FIXED.
