300 six swap?

My truck currently has a 302 with a slight knock. I plan to swap it for a six and rebuild the 302 into a 331 for another dentside project. Trouble I am having is finding a rebuildable 300. This will become my wifes truck once I get my other dent on the road, which is why I want a more reliable engine with a bigger cool factor. I will load it up with goodies from Clifford and Classic Six for her to enjoy for years to come. Anything other then locating a motor that I need to take onto consideration for this swap?

I was wondering this too, my '79 with a 300 has the top hose on the passenger side, what are the 302's hoses routed like?

Top hose on passenger, bottom hose on driverside.

Re you going to run electric fans?
I am working on one right now and have about 3/4" clearance from front of water pump to radiator.
I think I am going to try and find a cross flow radiator that has the correct hose routing and should leave me a lot more room for fans.

Where are you located? I have an original low-mile 300/6 in a 79 F150 that I'm parting. It's untouched as of right now & the radiator is there & in good shape.

Whether in the vertical or horizontal axis, all radiators are "cross flow".

Technically speaking, the correct term is single-pass vs dual pass. Sometimes the latter is also referred to as "double-pass".

A couple of examples of dual pass:

Thanks for the illustration.
I am going to look for a GM radiator. Not sure which one yet, just looking for one that will fit in the core support that is much thinner.

ok i just did the opposite on of of my truck, went from a 300 to a windsor and here are the things that i can think of that were different.

gas pedal
engine perches
radiatior, but i used the 300 one with a custom lower tube
kick down linkage if you have an auto trans

thats really all i can think of other then the obvious stuff. i even used the 300s starter on the 351.

I do have the auto tranny, so I guess I need the kick down linkage as well.
