Socket/Connector for horn relay, '66 F100

Hi all-

I just traced a horn problem on my '66 F100 to a malfunctioning horn relay. While I believe the relay to be bad, I also noticed that the socket/connector that plugs into the 3 prong horn relay is in need of replacement i.e. some of the rubber has melted, exposing the metal contacts within.... I've tried tracking down a replacement socket/connector, but have so far come up with nothing...I guess I cold wrap the socket/connector with a lot of electrical tape, but I'd really prefer to replace the thing. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I might be able to snag one?

Thanks!

Horn relay is the same: 1964 Galaxie / 1965 Mustang w/a generator / 1965/77 F100/350 & Econoline / 1976/77 Bronco.

Ford did not supply the wire connector plug only for the horn relay. Find one of these ^ vehicles ^ in a junkyard and snip off the plug.

Horn Relay connector is a component of the 'headlight' harness. Suggest check the rest of the circuit to determine if need replacing? Kinda expensive, many-many years ago purchased the headlight harness for $95 thru Mr. Mustang, Inc. One has to call to inquire, 1964-1967 Ford truck wire harnesses not listed on their website, their supplier is/was American Auto Wire, I was pleased with the quality. If decide to go this route; many of the Ford part supplier's now carry the harness's not sure they sell separate harnesses??

Another possible option: make a salvage shopping run, remove the connector leaving a sufficient amount of excess wire for soldiering.

Mine was melted so I replaced it with a few female spade connectors. Works great.

Bill, Dave, 6t6- Thanks for the good info and the suggestions.

The rest of my headlight harness is in good condition, so I think I am going to go the route of trying to snag a connector from a salvage yard. (Bill- thanks for the mention of the other vehicles that share the same connector. It should raise the chances that I'm able to locate one.) If I can't find one in a yard, I'll probably end up either going with 6t6's spade connector solution, OR trying to see if I can resurrect the existing melted connector using Gardner Bender "Liquid Tape" - which I've used to repair/insulate deteriorating cloth-insulated house wiring that I've found in many electrical boxes here in my 220 y/o house...

Happy 4th of July, everyone!

Just as an FYI... I managed to resurrect the melted socket that connects to the horn relay using an exceedingly sharp knife to cut away and trim the melted plastic, and then applying multiple layers of aforementioned Gardner Bender "Liquid Tape" to build the socket back up...I have to admit that it now looks pretty decent and works just fine ...Now on to replacing the two horns- both of which are fried...Will start a separate thread to ask a question about replacement horns. Thanks
