happy weekend gents. i snapped a ujoint on my front axle on my 76 highboy being stupid on some big river rocks . any one know what size these things are? thanx

 

I've mentioned this before, but thats ok. The aftermarket database, for 70's Ford ujoints, is riddled with confusion and errors. Check your cap diameter. If the opposed caps differ, grab both sizes, along with the cross shaft. They may need to measure the width.
At the parts house, have them double check their computer to the vendors catalog. (If they have one, its all mostly online now) With your parts in hand, you most likely walk out with the correct one.

 

Closed or open knuckle?

 

its open knuckle. i called napa this morning and they said theres 2 different ujoints so i guess its best to just take my old ujoint in. napas a 45 minute trip for me

 

got it! $17.99 i guess the difference was close knuckle ujoints are bigger then open knuckle ujoints. in case anyone else needs one the napa part number is NPJ P231.
