new process 435 help needed!!!!
I recently bought a np435 to use when I swap my 289 into my 51' F-1. It has the original straight axle and steering box. With the addition of some leafs being removed all else is original up front. I've found a lot of info on other 4 speeds being used bit I can't find anything g on the np435? Is there a hidden problem with these I should know about in clearance/fitment? Or do they have a hidden downfall mechanically? Any help is appreciated! I'm trying to get it all squared away and on the road by July 10th for an annual cruise in my area!

I've looked into this before. What I came to a conclusion of, was using a crossmember from an F2 or F3. The center drop section is capable of giving clearance, and the strength needed at that location of the frame will be kept. Then an F2 or F3 brake MC can be used, as well as pedals. The rivet locations between the F1 and F2/3 are different, but not something that can't be fixed with new holes drilled.
That said, not all NP435's, T18's, T19's, or T98's are the same. Depending on the application, the trans mount will vary. I happened to have several of these, and the one that worked best for me was a 1986 F250 2wd behind a 300cid. The trans mount lined up dead center over the top of the stock crossmember. So I guess I'd try fitting it in there before cutting into the crossmember.

I currently am going to be using NP435 (also have a spare T-18), in my F-3, with mine though im also using the 351m and the NP205 transfer case (donor truck was a 1978 f-150) Pretty much a bulletproof setup for my 4x4 conversion, but im hoping someday I can save up my pennies and buy a Ranger torque converter (basically an overdrive unit) to get me better highway mileage.

thanks everyone, I'm thinking I might have the one your talking about. it looks way shorter than most the pictures I've seen of others. just from my "scientific" eye bell it looks like it would be pretty darn close to lining right up depending on how far back the motor will sit. I just bought a speedway tube engine swap cross member for the 289 swap i'm working on so I guess the only way to find out is wait until I get it all mocked into place!!!
