I put new ball joints on a few months ago and now the truck is starting the death wobbles felling even around slight bends in the road.I jacked it up and the passenger side tire will move 1" side to side scarey. Not sure what I need to replace. Thanks Bud
Dumb question but did you make sure to grease the ball joints after installation. i had a dealer replace mine only to find they hadn't greased them. Check the drag link connector sleeves to see if they are loose. Is it only the passenger side that moves?
It sounds like a ball joint is not torqued properly or, you have a bad steering component such as a bad tie rod or wheel hub. Is everything tight? put the truck on jackstands and then look for movement that way. How many miles are on the truck? And what brand parts were used?
It sounds like you may have a steering gearbox issue. I would take it to a good front end shop, sometimes they can remove the "slop" in the box by adjusting it. Is the pitman arm moving with everything?
I'm assuming you mean the wheels move laterally (side to side) and not in/out at the top of the wheel. if so, trace back your linkage making sure all parts are tight. While the tires are off the ground, pointing straight ahead, grab the linkage at the steering gear box and see if "tugging" there causes the same movement. If you have movement there suspect that as your culprit.
BTW, I'm shade tree so have your favorite mechanic check this as well.

The part that fails all the time on mine is the link on the pitman arm not the box..
You have to check all your tierods and other ends they go bad all the time.. Keep the truck on the ground have someone get in and rock the steering wheel and look at the joints. You will be able to tell which one's are worn pretty easily by looking at them...
