All my boxes are mounted, aux fuel tank plumbed in, air bags and hitch installed all I need now is a few more miles on the beast,only 200 so far. I did pull my 16 ft enclosed trailer the other day that was no problem even in 6th gear. I weighed the truck before I started and after all my stuff was mounted, 7120 before and 8020 after with me in it (190 lbs). The main tank fuel level was just under full both times and my aux tank had about 12 gal in it, it's a 50 gal tank.

So far I'm really happy with the truck but I don't like the feel on the brake petal or gas petal, the slave cylinder they are using for the adjustable brake petal has no feeling just like a slave cylinder used in a clutch and the gas petal feels the same way but I will get used to it. I was really surprised to see the brakes have a hydraulic booster instead of vacuum and that could be the difference I'm feeling in the brakes. The brake controller works just as good as the Brakesmart I had in our old truck so I'm going to put the Brakesmart in the classifieds shortly. When I hit the 400 mile mark I'm going to hook up to the 5ver and give it a short test pull to make sure everything is working and then I will be able to tell just how good the 6.2 really is.

I know what you mean about the gas pedal. It seems you have to push it more than halfway to go anywhere. Then when you do, it seems as though RPM"s don't match your speed. As far as the brake pedal, I like it. It has a much better feel than my 08 V10. The '08 pedal would need to be pressed a long way before anything happened. I would have to give the brakes a short pump every time I wanted to stop.
The manual says to wait till 1000 miles before towing but the dealer said 500 miles were fine. I didn't tow until I had more than 750 miles.
I weighed mine too and it came in at 10,220 lbs.

 

Can't wait to hear about your first pull Denny! I think these engines are drive by wire... Maybe a 5 star tune helps the gas pedal response?

I don't mind the response it just feels different, with 4.30 gears it's out of 1st by 5 mph unless I get on it. I put 140 miles on it today and I can tell it's starting to get a little more power but I still don't like the feel of brake petal. I reset the mileage computer before we left and on the same roads the 6.2 is getting 1 to 1.5 mpg better than my V10 that was broke in . I remember when I bought my 2000 V10 out in Oregon and the dealer told me to put 1000 miles on it before I towed, well it had 450 on it when we left for home towing the trailer we were 1750 miles away, it ended up being the best truck I have owned to date.

This is how I modified my fuel fill neck so I can pump into the main tank from my aux tank. I silver soldered a 3/8 piece of copper into the fill tube and a piece of 1/4 into the vapor recovery line for the aux tank vent.

I hooked it up today and did a test pull to make sure everything was working like it should. I just went 9 miles west of town but it's all hills all the way (yes there are hills in NE) and a 20 to 25 mph wind out of the NW. I have a noise in the hitch that I will have to look at and I'm gong to have to move where I plug the trailer in, I'm using the stock tailgate instead of a louvered one and I can't reach the to plug with the tailgate down.

Now for the truck it only had 360 miles on it when I left so I didn't hammer it to hard but I can tell this thing will have no problem pulling our 16K trailer. It's going to take me a while to find a good speed to run at, even into the wind and up hill it didn't have any problems today. I can tell that I'm going to like the manual shift option when pulling in the hills to stop all the unnecessary downshifting, I also like the transmission braking when in tow haul it should save the brakes. Now I have to get some more miles on it before we leave for MN in July that's when it will get a workout for the first time.
