A/C Evaporator/Enclosure Box Question

I am trying to find the right part number for the A/C enclosure I have. I found this page with a part number of 19B735 but I am not sure that's for my 92. http://www.thedieselstop.com/faq/9497faq/maint/stj/stjc3a02.htm

Does someone know if this part number will also work for me? Also, does this come with the protective heat insulation? Of not, I'll need to make sure I here something.

Thanks

19B735 is probably the Ford group number for the box. The heat pads didn't start until 1994 with the R134a systems as far as I know. I believe the 87-93 were the same, then it changed and 94-96/7 are the same.

I need a heat pad. I have a huge hole in my cover because I removed it. AFIK, that was the stock setup for my truck (having a heat pad). I've got a 92 but bought it in 96 and it was originally sold in AZ. I wonder if it being sold in AZ meant it got a heat pad.

So I don't know if this means I should get the 87-93 part or the other. What's in that picture certainly looks like my system but I don't have a 96 or an RV. I also don't think it ever had R134A either.

A huge hole is in the evaporator cover?

Sounds like a trip to the junk yard to get that evap cover and heat shield. Some trucks had them, some did not(heat shield). I pulled one from the junkyard to put on my truck. Then mice ate it up.....at least it was just that they chewed up! ...........Added to the need list for the next junkyard run...........

It was tore up and would burn a little on the headers. I didn't think it Would be that bad but I can see how it can get hot there...especially at boost

Ah, a hot header under boost. A simple fix the V8 Ranger and Bronco2 users do to the evap cover is warm it up and use a oil filter(or equ dia pipe) to remold the evap cover away from the valve cover(in your case the header).

Got pics of you turbo setup?

Makes sense, just doesn't seem like I have much room because right behind the cover was part of the A/C system.

You can see on the left side of my pic where some of the plastic turned white on the header, I got to get that off.

Cool setup, I though is was a turbo. Are you going to put AC back in? I doubt as the supercharger sits where the AC compressor is.

To get more room, look in the junkyard for a truck with out factory AC, and get the outside housing. That will give you more than enough room. I remember there was a thread about that either here in the 87 to 96/97 forum or the 80 to 86 forum.

Don't need the A/C, never held a charge and I didn't care enough to fix it. The blower and A/C can fit fine, I've had the blower on there for years and only recently removed the A/C stuff. Less weight and better cooling.

Are you saying I should get the housing Since I have removed my A/C or am I just after this cover that will fit on my A/C housing?

If you can find a non AC truck and get the engine bay blower housing, it will take up alot less space inside the engine bay. It gets rid of the evap housing. Can't rember if you have to change out the AC/Heat box in side the cab.

I'll do some searches here for a thread about this as long as Ole TS Andrea doesn't drop another tornado on us. Just went through a pretty mean squall line and the local news had a tornado warning over my area....

Here's a thread about that heat shield.. .https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...d-a-c-mod.html

Worked out well so far. I got a whole A/C & blower housing from a 92 F250. Came out pretty easy. I also got a housing w/o A/C from an 89 F250. Plus I ripped out the insulation from an econoline's engine cover. They charged me $25

As far as I know, 1987-96/7 the inside ducting is the same for AC and non-AC, just the underhood changed. Sounds like you have a plan!

There would have been no way I could have repaired this without taking it completely off and seeing the holes.

I think what happened is a day a couple of weeks back, it was pretty warm around here and on that day my truck got really hot, didn't overheat. It got too hot because my fan was insufficient - I have since fixed that. But I wonder if on the day the truck got hot is when this melted.

I replaced it with the non-A/C version and stuck some of that ugly heat shielding on it. But I am going to figure out something else to put on there that looks better and is permanent.
