F1 seat upholstery
I am recovering the bench seat and need to know what is recommended between burlap over the springs and the manufactured cover. I have a vinyl cover with some foam and a fabric backing. Not enough on it's own but I tried 2" foam and that seemed like it made things too tight. Barry

Hello Barry,
I went with all synthetic materials for my seat re-cover job. The kit that I ordered from Blue Oval Truck Parts came with some very thin indoor/outdoor carpet to use in place of the burlap. That with one inch foam worked out really well.

Old Dan has the ticket - the lower height foam will allow the cover to fit the springs better. You'll figure out how to trim the foam to give you the right shaped look - especially on the top of the seat back.
Upholstery work is one of the few cosmetic tasks that lets you see the 'finished' product before you are done.
Good looking work there Mr Dan.
