Oil rail to injector o-ring failure

Just thought I would share these pictures. This seems to be a more common problem then it used to be with the trucks getting older and higher miles.

These are the o-rings on top of the injectors where the rail seats. This only caused, believe it or not, intermittent hard warm starts.

Were the orings eaten from the top down or bottom up? Reason I ask is someone on here in the not too recent past posted about the orings failing on the nipples in the high pressure oil rail that allowed high pressure oil to eat through the top orings in the injector.

Top down, and yes it could be from the nipples. At the time, under the circumstances, we are looking to see if it happens again. If so, then no nipple o-rings will be installed.

That post had a reason for the type of failure. It was do to wear of the nipple where
it enters the top of the injector and the repair was to replace the nipple. There is a
tool to do that and some parts for the job. I forget where the souse was.
He even had a video on doing the job. The trick is looking at the nipples to see
if there are some wear marks on them and replace the ones that have them.
