Tranny issue, any help appreciated

Last fall I started having what I thought was an excessive delay (about 2 seconds) in the shift from park to drive, on the initial shift only. I had both a dealer and a private tranny guy check it, both said it was within acceptable tolerance. After a few weeks I noticed it had gotten better. I wrote that off to the adaptive tranny and my new H&S. Now I find it has gotten worse than before. I'm up to a three to four second delay from park to drive, but only on the initial shift. After that everything is normal. In fact I can go back to park and then after a short delay into drive and it is OK. But, if left in park for more than a minute or so it delays on the shift back to drive. Any thoughts out there? I'm concerned and confused.

does it happen with the H&S transmission tune and the tow haul, which i believe is stock tuning?

Have you tried returning the truck to stock (if it's not too modified) and running it for a bit to see if the issue goes away?

Wow, these posts may be garbled. I just took a lightening hit. Anyway I'm back now. Can't blame the H&S as the problem began before I installed it. A lot of the 6 liter guys had tranny problems related to (they thought) one model of the Edge. I had an Edge Evo before the H&S and that model had a good record but who knows.

Could be. though I haven't seen that many problems on this forum. Some of the guys running big tunes hard have some problems but I think they expect them. What gets me is that once it gets by the hesitation everything is normal. That and the fact that it self corrected for a thousand miles or so. Oh well, I'll get it figured out before my next trip.

solenoids I think is where the problem is at. I have heard mark K mention them a couple of times as possible issues.

I think Senix is correct, solenoids, mine does it especially if I'm trying to soft foot it down a bumpy road, I think some of it is the throttle bounce it has at low speed down an unsmooth road, messes with it's mind on when to shift.
But I don't have the delay when going from park to drive, maybe I should quite rambling.
I don't really think it's a tuner issue unless you like unleashing the big HP all the time.

How many miles are on your transmission fluid? See Mark's comments on THIS THREAD.

Not many, when this first surfaced I took it to Ford. They said the hesitation was within specs at 2 seconds. Since I was at 60,000 I went ahead and had them do a fluid replacement. i think I'm at 64 and a little change right now.

I went out and played with it some this evening (just returned today from a two week trip). it is now back to about a 2 second delay which I can live with. I'm thinking it must have something to do with the adaptive learning function, yesterday, just driving around, and today while towing I was getting almost 4 seconds of delay. I may reset the tuner to full stock and see what that does. Also, I have a couple other tuning options I can try. And, as a last resort go full stock with the pipes back on and drive it a while.

on edit. Well, I just read the thread, sure wish he would have come back and told us what the results were. I'm gonna see if I can PM him and get more info. Thank you for the link.
