More info for ya, but I went the other way.
On my EX I started out with 3.73s and stepped up to 4.88s, my solo mileage has dropped about 1 to 1.5 MPG but my towing mileage has gone up by 2 MPG. My EX sees more miles towing than solo so it was a good swap for me. I don't think that the little bump in mileage that you may see would be worth the high cost of the gear change. You could possibly do just as we'll by adjusting the nut behind the wheel . Drop a few MPH on the highway, coast farther into stop signs and lights and go just a bit easier on acceleration and try to let it shift into OD sooner.

Adj. the nut behind the wheel would not be fun. My wife thinks I drive like a old man now.....(comes from years of driving semi).....but she's all gas until 5 feet shy of stop sign. Over all happy with truck just was wondering. I know the motors are not equal from my 03 to the 06, but I really would hate to change the gearing and sacrifice the pick up this one has because it would leave the 03 on the line thinking what just happed. Thanks to all.
