Boneyard engines

Whenever I go to the boneyard, no matter what brand of van/school bus, the engine is gone. Are these blocks a little better than car/light truck blocks? Higher nickel content?

Trucks in general last much longer than cars and they have sometimes seen severe service. The engines are often replaced several times over the life of the chassis therefore "donor" engines get used a lot.
