1950 F1 wiring

I recently rewired my F1 with a harness from Mac's. My problem is with the key in any position or completely removed from the switch you can hit the starter button and the motor will turn over. I have replaced the ignition switch, starter button, and starter solenoid. It has new voltage regulator. The wiring has been checked several times and is installed correctly per the Mac's wiring diagram. I have contacted Mac's technical service, no help there. HELP please.

I think that was the way it is wired stock....... if you want to "fix it" move the starter button power feed wire from the "always hot fuse", meaning battery power always there, to a "keyed fuse" , meaning power only there when key is turned to run.
Hope that makes sense.

Yeah, sounds like you have a 6v pos ground system....that's how they all were. The starter button just completes a ground circuit....no "power wire" is involved.

If you don't like that feature you could put a simple toggle switch inline before the button. Or use an ignition switch with a "start feature".

Personally I like the button as stock....
