2000 F-250 Rear Axle Question.

Hey guys and Gals, ive got a question about the rear axles the F-250 Superduty's. I know from 1999 to 2007 they all had 10.25 Sterling SRW, but were the brakes different? My pop wants to change out the rear axle on his 2000, and he's asked me to find one. What years & Models did they have disk rear brakes and drum rear brakes? Would it matter? I mean, I found a 2001 F-250 rear axle and it has disks, Pops has Drums.

all the trucks from 99-07 were 10.5, maybe even current trucks. There should be no issues switching the axles or the brake parts over between a 2000 and 2001 besides gear ratio if you switch the entire axle.

You can you would need to pull the axle shafts to remove all the components but it is possible.

I'm thinking there may be some confusion on the brakes: All Superduty's from '99 up to the present have disc brakes in the back. They do however have a parking brake drum as well built into the rotor. The only major difference in rear brakes on the early Superduty's, and I think this may have only been on the early 99s, is that the driver's side caliper was on the front of the axle and it had brush guard bolted to it to protect it from brush and debris.
