fuel rich

89 E250 351W EFI

has too rich gas smell from exhuast so i check fuel pressure it showed 40 PSI it good but i have no idea why gas too rich ?

The O2 sensor might be faulty. Here's some reading on testing the O2 sensor - http://www.autodiagnosticsandpublish...or-testing.htm .

Thanks for info... but why dont computer warning light on "check engine" if oxygen sender is failed?

Because the Oxygen Sensor is still working - but just not right.

If you disconnect the Sensor, the "Check-Engine"-Light goes on.

Off topic - later vehicles (OBD-II?) have a downstream O2 sensor to validate the signal of the primary O2 sensor upstream of the cat.

let you know i did disconnect oxygen sensor and "check-engine" not come on..

what next?

That's odd.
I disconnected mine and the light went on...

Does it always smell like gasoline or only when the engine is cold?

A dirty air filter will do this, too.

does the engine run rough?. my '99 had 1 bad plug and for some reason did not trigger the check engine light. that was the gas smell and soon after the check engine light did come on

yes it does check engine light come on when i hit starter after started light go away.

i just finished install new oxygen sensor and Map sensor now rich fuel go away!! feel little more power now
