Rod bearing in oil pan?

I pulled the motor on our F100 with a 360 to repair a slight rod knock. Much to my surprise, I found a rod bearing in the bottom of the pan. Motor has 88000 original miles and has not been apart (as far as I have been told). Any ideas how it got there? It is a Ford stamped bearing?

The bearing must have spun, worn thin enough to eventually slip the rod and cap.

It was most likely dropped in the block during assembly and just rested in the bottom of the oil pan all these years.

Is this possible, for the life of me I cannot see how it could "escape" the cap. Bearing is dirty but has little wear. I will pull the caps off next but all had about the same up and down movement.

Was it a complete bearing half?? Missing a rod half would make quite a racket. Montana is prolly correct. I have found a partial cam bearing in the pan before. Wore down to the point it worked its way out. I was confused myself, til i figured it out.

Complete half, motor is pretty quiet other than a slight knock on decel.

x2 on what xkpsanit said, if the whole half had came out somehow it would be making a terrible noise
