38Chevy454 is starting off with a positive reputation.
Quick re-intro for the local NM folks.

My name is Terry, live in east mountains of ABQ in Tijeras. I am a metallurgical engineer, work for Air Force at Kirtland AFB.

Pics of my Ford truck vehicles:
My 49 Ford COE, the one most people know me by

My 88 Ford F-250 4x4 diesel:

My 37 Ford Ute (body style and car from Australia). This one is disassembled and being repainted, will be silver. Hate this blue color.

I also have several non-Ford hot rods and projects. 1937 Chevy Ute (all stock for now), 1938 Chevy 2 dr sedan (hot rod, my namesake), 1952 GMC pickup (hot rod), 1968 GTO (all orig), 1955 Studebaker coupe (landpseed race car project), and some newer cars.

I usually hang out in the IDI pre-powerstroke diesel section the most. Some in the 48-56 section. I will try to stop in the NM section here also. Terry

Welcome 38chevy454,
Welcome to the New Mexico chapter. I am fairly new here but great to be around lots of Ford people. Is that "salt"? I have always wanted to go the the salt flats and watch the land speed runs, maybe someday. What have you run time wise out there?
Nice to have you here,

Yes, that pic of my COE is from Bonneville salt flats. I go to Speedweek every year, for past 10 years. Have driven the COE there past 6 years. It has A/C so that makes the long trips a lot more pleasant. No radio because it is useless to hear it, but it does have cold A/C I used an old 60's underdash add-on A/C unit and swap meet condenser.

The COE does not race. It is just there to spectate. I have several friends that race, and (in theory) am building a 1955 Studebaker coupe for a landspeed race car project. But right now it looks a lot more like a refugee from the junkyard than a race car. Just a stripped rolling shell with no drivetrain or interior.

My COE just has a 350 SBC and Turbo 400, I know it is not a Ford engine ; actually the whole chassis is a 74 GM 1-ton pickup. It is just an old Ford cab on a GM chassis, to be honest more GM than Ford. The rear fenders are 46 Ford big truck front fenders cut and rewelded to become the rear fenders. Flatbed is custom made. It is not fast or built for any kind of racing. Just for driving around and occasional hauling junk on the flatbed. It has a hitch, but I have the red 88 F-250 diesel truck for when i really need to tow something.

Here are a couple more pics of the COE:

The COE is pretty darn cool. It's one of those vehicles no one but yourself has - which makes is very special. That's cool you are building a speed record car - I always wanted to do that. I am working on a 1973 Yamaha RD350 cafe racer right now. Getting close to getting it road worthy - cant wait to ride it.
I worked with a guy at Eclipse Aviation awhile back that drove a 1981 Mercedes Unimog - went for some rides and the occasional lunch outing in it. Those unique vehicles (COE of course) seem to get a lot of attention.

Hi everybody! I apologize for taking so long to notice and reply to this. Thanks for the welcome!

I've been Ford-less for way too long and finally decided to fix my craving for a straight six and a stick shift by buying a cheap, rough '85 Supercab F-150. I wasn't looking for a long bed or a 4wd, but I got both as a bonus. It took a couple of weeks to get it to pass emissions, but now it's legal and running. Feels good to be driving a Ford again.

I would post a photo, but apparently I'm an idiot...
