What color TFI 94 460?

The parts truck i bought for the engine and tranny had a grey TFI(94 460 5 speed) It seemed to run fine but i didnt drive it to much. I put that engine and tranny into my 93. My 93 351w had a grey TFI.. The truck misfires alittle and cuts out on high revs. Ive been looking around but some people say the year 94 was when they switched and could be either gray or black. What color should it be?

From this article:
http://www.myo-p.com/Ford-EEC/EEC%20..._or_black.html

"If a black CCD TFI module is installed in a Push Start system, dwell will remain fixed, since the SPOUT signal duty cycle never changes. If in doubt about which TFI module belongs on a particular vehicle, consult the ignition system wiring diagram for the vehicle. If the wire going to pin #4 on the EEC-IV computer comes directly from pin #4 of the TFI module, it is a CCD system. If not, it is a Push Start system."

Just curious. Are you using the 460's EEC?

There are wiring differences between the older style Push-Start versus CCD style ignition equipped trucks. Simply swapping the PCM/ICM is not going to make the circuits work correctly.

FWIW Ford started using the black CCD-style ICM on all 1994 and later trucks.

Also make sure you are using the 460's EEC. Not only will it run the engine much better due to it being programmed to run the bigger engine, but the 460 harness will only work properly with the 460 EEC.
