59 f2504x4

Hi guys new to this. I have 59 f2504x4 other owner mod the truck has a 460 with c6 three speed auto anyway ? Has no room for standard fan but has very loud electric fan on it what options do I have or your suggestion on making it quit. Or what options on running some other cooling modification fans kick in at 160 but stays running all the time truck runs is around 180 normal. Has anyone done this swap before? Thanks for any and all help

Welcome to the fridge forum.
Yea it makes no sense to have the fan come on before the engine thermostat opens. Have you checked to see if there is an adjustment on the fan thermostat? If no then you can pick up an adjustable thermostat switch pretty cheep(check Amazon). As for the noisy fan that could be a poor install or just a bad fan. Some of the best variable speed fans can be found in the junk yards. I run a fan from a LIncoln Mark viii, very nice and it fits our radiators well, just had to make my own shroud.
Did you know we like pictures, and tell us your plans for this truck.

I have read good things about the ford windstar minivan fans too, quiet and lots of flow. Havent had a chance to get my hands on one yet but been on the lookout.

Podds; it has been my experience that puller fans are more efficient, and may be quieter behind the radiator. Most after market fans can be reversed pusher/puller. If you have the space? Also you could split the fans on separate thermostats say 10 Degrees apart and the low one on override with A/C. One way or another I would get an adjustable fan thermostat set higher than your engine coolant thermostat.
A quick search of Amazon

I will also add my welcome to the orphan fridge club. sounds like they got you pointed in the right direction. if it were me, I would run the fan off a hot wire to see how loud it was without the engine running. if its to loud, switch it out. sounds like Wally has you squared away with the temp switch. good luck with it.
