Chevron Delo 15W-40

Hey, guys, hope all is well with everybody and that you all are smiling from ear to ear every time you fire up your truck! : ) I've got 23K on my truck already, man, it goes fast!! Been running Rotella T 5W-40, been running it, all in the mind of longer drain intervals.....well, we are not going to try that on these new trucks after what the Ford guys are saying in the shop. So, if I'm dumping the oil every 7k or so, which in my case would be about 7 weeks, would it hurt to run a good conventional oil? All of our dump trucks, tractors, one-tons (all Fords w/ 7.3, 6.0, 6.4, now (2) 6.7L Powerstrokes, not yet) are running Delo. Trying to use all the same oil in our rigs.......Anyone see a problem with this?

mcallister,
What are all the Ford guys saying in the shop?

Also I don't see a problem with running 15W40 oil in your truck since it's approved to use down to 20C. You will probably notice a slight decrease in fuel economy.

Troy, I gotta go down to the Ford garage and hear their explanation myself. I had our mechanic ask him.....well, he just told me that they said not to run 15W-40. Yeah, great expletive, eh? "If you want things done right, sometimes you just gotta do it yourself"! : ), I don't know exactly, but will report back in here weds. We are just trying to save money here. Look, in what we do, all though we keep 'em looking new, the motors outlast the bodies. Kinda sad, but I get 8-9 years out the trucks I drive, mostly just a lot of miles, hard miles: trailers, gravel roads, etc. Just want to save $$, but don't want to compromise the truck or it's warranty!

That's strange for them to say.
The heavy truck service center at my local dealer uses Motorcraft 15w-40.
My truck has run 46,000 something on MC 15w-40 although I have jugs of Rotella T6 waiting for next time.

That oil is API CJ-4, which is a requirement.

EDIT: Except the powerstroke isn't in their list of engines on that document.

I have used Dello 400 since the first two oil changes. I have 46,000 miles on my truck. I change oil around every 5,000 to 6,000 miles. Dello 15-40 is fine for weather above 20 degrees.

What about the DELO 400 synthetic 5w40? Then you get the CJ4 rating and the cold starting. I don't see a problem running the rated oil viscosity, I would bet motor craft is made by Chevron, if you can buy bulk for all your equipment, then I would do that, a barrel with hand pump for all those oil changes.

Used Delo 15W-40 in my 1997 PS for 187,000 miles with no issues. Using the remainder in my 2012 with ok my Ford dealer in Bangor Maine. It is a 16 hr shop in the summer and 24 hr in the winter, they know what they are talking about.

Motorcraft oil is made by Connoco-Phillips... A very good oil!

20C

20 C = 68 F. I think 15-40 oil is good for a much lower temp. It was at 61 degress this morning in San Diego CA.

Delo 400 LE 15W-40 has a service rating of CJ-4. We are good to go! Found Delo @ $10.65/gallon at Costco, good thru the 6/6/13. We are going to be picking up a pallet next week. Sure it'll work out great and we'll get another 350K+ on this girl! : )

I remember when it was $30,00 a case at Costco. $10.65 is a good price however.
