Hey, Im new here. I recently bought a 2000 F-350. It has a 5th wheel set up but no tailgate. What year tailgates are compatible with the 2000 F350? Will one from a 97 truck fit mine?

 

i think i remember reading some where that 99 to 08 will fit but dont hold me to that. others will be along that know for sure. btw welcome to fte.

The latest-model tailgates use some different hinges, so you'll need them, too, if you get a real late-model replacement.

Thanks a lot for the info. If I was to get a fifth wheel tailgate, does it matter which truck it came from or do I just need to focus on the width and height of the tailgate?

 

Concentrate on the width, type of hinges it fits, and the latch mating.

I found this a while back and ordered one since someone tried to drive away after unhitching a goose-neck horse trailer without putting the tailgate down. I had a friend paint it and put on the emblems. Looks great!
Used tailgates are almost impossible to find. Junk yards want to sell you the whole box.

The 1997 -'01(I think) F150 gates will fit as well. You can find tailgates on craigslist quite a bit.
