How to keep CC seat belts from sliding between seatback?

See my sig for truck.

I have 3 kids in the crewcab. 2 are in booster seats, and 1 still riding in a Britax. The 2 in booster seats can buckle their own seat belts in the wife's Odyssey. But they cannot buckle their own in the truck because as they try to push the 2 pieces together, the short 'female' end slides down between the seat and seatback. So I have to buckle them. Every time.

Has anyone on here encountered the same issue and jimmy'd something up to prevent the female end from sliding down? I'm thinking maybe putting a ~4" long 1-2" diameter piece of tubing around the belts. Something like that.

Have you thought of talking to ford and ordering the extensions ?!?

I found this out a few years ago when the 'large' Mom-in-law came to visit - the seat belt was not long enough !!! GULP

by law if you call ford and tell them you need 2 or 3 seat belt extensions they will send them to you based on our gooberments American with disabilities act (Yes, fat is a disability !!!)

it seems that the length is not the issue its his kids strength. Ive noticed that the seat belts in my Ford are tougher to pull out than they are in my girlfriends Pontiac, when my two kids try to use the seat belts in my Ford i can see them struggle as they pull the seat belts out and over their chests and then try to attach it to the female section. Ive showed them to pull extra belt out and it mae it easier but they still have issues once in a while

The extensions help as I have the same issue with two little ones. The extension allows the female end be brought up more towards them. That way they aren't trying to get into the female section while at the same time it seems the female section pushes down into the hole between the seats.

The extension is made out of the same seat belt fabric so when the child starts buckling it in there is no stiffness to the extension so it doesn't push the female section anywhere.
Not sure if that makes any sense, but I feel your pain.

How long are these extensions? And is the length adjustable?

I'll have to look into this, thanks for the suggestion. And btw...don't get me started on the whole gov't/disability thing. My wife is an x-ray tech and brings some stories home.

One more question for clarification.

Is Ford required to GIVE these extensions to you, or only required to offer them to you for sale?

bare, bear, ???? with me - been imbibing margaritas ...

GIVE - at least when I was interested in them....
and seems they still are according to a search on dat intrenetter
seat belt extender
Free "Seat Belt Extender"
My Ford Freestyle .com • View topic - Seat Belt Extensions

IIRC they were about 6 to 10 inches long... the ones I had were made of the same material as the seat belts....

As maj says just long enough to not make you twist and fight to get in the wedge of the seat and may allow the kiddees to hook it right in front of them... maybe even mount the extension on the side of the car seat so they hook up there !

as far as adjustability - you can put extensions on extensions to get to a good length and then
the adjustability is in the male part that extends and retracts....

good luck ...
