Question regarding the radio on an '88 F-150
I just recently bought the truck, and I came to find out it only has am tuner. I was wondering if it would work, had I bought a new radio. I haven't seen anything dealing with putting an fm radio into an am tuner. Has anyone done a transfer like this, or know if it will work?

Welcome to FTE
You can get am/fm/cd units for fairly cheap at wally. They're not the best, but they work OK.
Most Ford radios fron that era pull out using a couple of clips that Wally used to sell for a couple bucks. Haven't looked lately.
Stuff to look for on AMAZON OR WHATEVER
You need to find one of the right dimensions -- or else get an adapter mount because they're usually smaller. They talk about DIN size a lot, but I don't know if that applies to Fords.
You also want a wiring adapter. You plug the adapter into the wiring harness and connect the correct colored wires to your radio. Read the descriptions carefully. They also sell some that plug into the radio for those who are building hot rods or whatever.
As an alternate, you can go to the junkyard and look for a Ford radio that has what you want in it. They usually have a bunch in the office.
Good Luck,

Best Buy or Walmart are decent places with a decent selection of stereos. I usually get mine from Best Buy and get the 2 year warranty just in case my radio has an "accident" or just plain quits working.
ford2go is right on about getting the wiring adapter. Makes it way more simple to install and doesn't make it a nightmare if you have to redo it.
Normal sized stereos fit in the dash without an adapter. I have had a Pioneer unit and a Sony unit in my truck and both fit well without hassle or issue. Your stereo is held in with 4 bolts. Should be some kind of shroud on the dash around the heater and radio controls. That pulls off using a flat head screwdriver or whatever you want to pry with, and the bolts will be exposed then.

If your looking to get a new stereo altogether, you want to go to Crutchfield: Car Stereo, Speakers, Home Theater, LCD TV, Digital Cameras. It's better to call them when you order rather then ordering online because they have excellent service. You tell them what truck you have, and they'll tell you exactly what you need to install it yourself.
And I'm pretty sure all of our trucks come stock with a single DIN size radio.
I just installed a single DIN stereo in our 99 Taurus last week. If you've seen the factory Taurus radio, then you know it's more then your average stereo install. Ordering from them made it easy with there dash kit, extra wiring, and factory adapters.
