I keep a few tools in my 97. As for safety/survival stuff, I don't. My brother-in-law gave me a bag a few years ago with a bunch of first aid stuff in it, but it likely isn't much good anymore. I will say Wes, last night, the one survival tool you have, which is a necessity, would get me in jail if I ever got inspected going into some of the places I have to. I need to get some of those waterproof cases for stuff just like that.

Get your CCDW license and it's all good.

I highly recommend the watertight container I showed you... It definantly gives me peace of mind knowing it isn't letting my stuff draw moisture.

Also, alcohol towlettes, etc will dry out after the expiration date. Trust me, just update it ever 6 months and you're good to go.

For the ultimate survival kit

This is for the ultimate survival kit!

Can you make it big enough for an F150 LB?

From the NBC Vault: Walt builds a fallout shelter - Video on NBCNews.com

This is offered tongue-in-cheek . Have a laugh.

I am glad the 1950's have passed.

I recommend these "Pelican"cases. Most have internal foam that can be cut as you need. They are highly durable.

We use these in the film industry to carry camera gear worth millions of dollars are over the world. They protect everything you put in them.

You are correct. There are places I go where a search of my truck is required. Commercial vehicles fall under different laws than private vehicles.

Your commercial truck should be considered your home under the 'Castle Doctrine'. - in some states known as "Stand Your Ground".

Texas law always has allowed deadly force against intruders and thieves to protect lives and property, but where it once required a duty to try to retreat if possible when facing imminent danger, it no longer does.

Other states have also adopted the law.

It makes sense. Why should you have to flea when being attacked. If you hurt someone, your still going to jail. You may still be sued. It just depends on whether or not you have evidence to support your defense.

Commercial vehicles fall under completely different rules and regulations. A search can be done for no reason at all. That said, there are places that if you show up on their property, and a search is done on your vehicle, you will be in big trouble if a firearm is found.

Sorry for the off topic Wes.

Military installations fall under the no personal weapons allowed with or with out concealed carry permits. I make good money as a contractor working on a Navy base and would hate to lose my job because I was carrying. The odds are slim that my car will get checked coming in the gate, but it is just not worth federal time and losing a good job.

I keep a tackle box and my pocket knife. Not really prepped for much but I'll catch dinner.

Please let's not derail it further... There was a good flow of info going on that we all could benefit from. Any other ideas? I also carry one of those strap-on head lanters, if I'm ever in the need of doing repairs at night away from home it should come handy. And I'll have both hands free to do so.

I second the pelican case. I use one for my camera equip and I love it. I read on another forum that a guy had a fish finder in one and it was in his barn/garage when it burned down. It sat for a while after the building burned and got rained on. When he finally got it open, everything inside was in perfect condition.
