I'm looking for some sort of bed cover and have ran across these canvas toppers. I've found 4 companies that make a type of collapsible canvas topper. I like the canvas toppers because they are taller than a tonneau cover for hauling slightly bulky things like an engine, small appliance etc, but aren't as permanent as a full topper. I do occasionally haul a gooseneck trailer or larger stuff.

Who has one of these and what do you think? I actually like the Fastkap best, but not sure about the fiberglass front part. I'm thinking i'd paint it black instead of body color. Try to blend it in versus standing out.

BTW this is going on a 1989 crewcab ford F350 4x4 that I'm in the process of doing a full restoration on.

These look cool, I don't have one, though. I looked at the Can-Back link and they seem very expensive to me.

 

I'm in the same boat as you guys. I'd love to have one of these toppers to camp under, but by the time I spend the kind of money they are asking for them, I'm getting close to a nice down payment on an actual camper!
