86 Jag IFS in 50 F1 - need shock mount height
HELP! Installing an 86 Jag IFS in a 50 F1 and need to fab the shock mounts. Some good examples and albums on this but I need to know height above the top of the frame to the top of the shock mount. Not sure how to determine ideal height for shock travel. I have soft mounted the IFS and ready to build these mounts so I can get the frame blasted and powder coated. Thanks!

I made mine so the shock had about 1" travel left with the IFS on the upper bump stops. At ride height the lower control arm will come up 2" to 3" and the shock will be around mid travel at that point. I used shorter than stock shocks, pics are in my first F1 build. I will be making another set shortly for build #2. Your height will depend on what shock you use, you want it at midpoint at ride height and enough travel that the bump stops are the suspension limter and not the shock.

My shock mounts look like your's because I stole your concept.
Thank you for your brilliant design.
I believe others have copied your design as well.
I didn't weld them on because the passenger side mount partially covers the frame ID number. In CA, DMV wants proof that the frame ID matches the body ID during registration.
I have the pink slip in my name but the truck isn't registered.
I don't trust DMV.
