Some of those sound like they're in Milwaukee? Like the Harley museum, which I've heard is not in the upscale neighborhoods. I think the more "country" the better.

Just arriving at Bob's place will guarantee that you are all countrified. The Harley HQ factory is a bit sketchy - the museum is downtown. This is just a listing - long way from being Bob's plan.

DW, I thought of most, if not all, of the places you mentioned but these meets tend to be a partial Friday night, for some, all day Saturday and then most leave on Sunday morning so there's not a whole lot of time to do stuff. Harley also offers a package tour of their museum on the lake front and their Menomonee Falls plant. But still it's a time thing. A cruise in the area would be the thing to do with a quiet night of conversation. I would like to keep the meet low keyed and not pressured to get everything done in a rather short period of time. Also, try to keep the cost down as much as possible. This is what the spirit that Doc wanted to have for Truckstock, just a few friends getting together. There are enough other truck and car events that you have to battle to get a place to park, sit in the hot sun all day and have to either impress or be intimidate others. None of that at our little FTEr get togethers.

I was strongly thinking of the Holy Hill area for the cruise. Great curving hilly roads with a stop at the Holly Hill church to climb up the tower and view the scenery for miles. Also a couple of good restaurants to choose from. I like the auto museum in Hartford too and might work with the Holy Hill cruise.

These meets mainly depend on everyone getting to know each other, trying to figure out and remember who is who on the board and sitting around talking. I really like that.

Don't forget those that like to turn a wrench at someone else's house!... Your carb in KY and "the miracle in the shop" at our place.

After Truckstock and now Truckfest I believe more than ever that keeping it simple and focusing on the people and truck stuff is the way to go. A big part of course is people meeting and getting to know each other. Don't need anything fancy to do that. Another part is looking at, talking about and maybe working on the trucks that show up. Nothing fancy needed to do that. I would keep the cruise at no more than an hour of total time (out and back). Mine ran way longer than I intended because I didn't realize we'd have a full tour (instead of walk in, look around, ask questions) of the mansion we visited. One or two meals together on the main day is enough as well. There'll be plenty of cheese for all to eat for their other meals. Bob, you summed it up best by saying "I don't care what the place looks like, I just want to do truck stuff". And... for goodness sakes (I'm sounding like Grandma)... don't try to compete with other events... make it your own and have fun!

Rob, you said it. Doc I know you're monitoring this conversation and I think that you wanted Truckstock to be like if you invited a small group of family and friends over for a weekend grill out. I think that's the magic with these meets. Where else are you going to see a grown man running around in SpongeBob jammies and another putting out a fire with what he has at hand, or in his hands? I am only worrying what might happen at Dairyland Drive In that will be talked about afterwards I just hope we don't have to lock up the chickens.

The Harley museum is a place to go in SE Wisconsin. I like Harleys but not a dyed in the wool Harley guy with all the goofy Harley merchandise but when I went there I was really impressed. They have a sample of every year, except one or two, of every bike they built. It's not in an upscale area, it is in an area that used to be junkyards and slaughter houses. But in the last few decades the area has been reworked and is very nice. It's right on the Lake Michigan lake front with easy access off and on the freeway. There is also a very nice, I've been told, never been there myself, Indian casino within a mile.

I just wanted to post this for anyone considering visiting the museum. IMO, it's worth a visit.

I wanted to mention a couple of things I liked about Rojak Rob's get together. It was great seeing so much talent group together and get Rob's F3 going. I realize not every meet can have such a thing, but for me helping DR do the initial compression test on the flatty just made it better and to see the truck coming to life made the event even better. I agree, these events are about the people and the trucks. I have spent way too many hours in hot parking lots having looky loos pick over my projects with no idea what it takes to redo a truck. We all have events and shows we attend for that purpose. For me truckfest fulfilled a different interest, meeting the wonderful and grumpy guys (and gals) from this forum. You all are about as addicted and twisted as I am. It was great. As long as we don't meet in a shady part of Milwaukee, I'll be there. I mean tipping cows in the city is a no-no, right ChrisF56?

I think Rob is right on with a cruise of about an hour or so. Most people are driving a fair distance to get there, not a high priority to put more miles on.

Having a member's truck to work on is a real bonus.

I could haul my F-4 up from the back shed and we could all get the body work done and painted in the pole building by the house.

If we don't have to be Ford specific we could jump on the '37 Buick

I am a good distance away from the shady part of Milwaukee by about 25-30 miles. My closest neighbor is about a 1/4 mile away. No guarantees what might happen if Chris show up. I'll let whoever wants to go cow tipping to do it. I've done enough of it over the years that it's just not as much fun, I'd rather watch others do it. You just have to wait for the cows to fall asleep before you can do it so it might get quite late.

Take the cows to Hooters for a couple hours as a few drinks should make them sleepy.

Or Tipsie.

Not sure sure what your plans are for the Buick? But judging by the size of most of us, this could be counter productive to the plan.LOL
