2006 F250 Add-A-Leaf Suggestions

2006 6.0 4X4 CC SB
Rear springs look like they have seen better days; thinking about an add a leaf kit. Other than the add a leaf and the longer center pin, what else is needed?

A spring shop can fix you up with a leaf.

i paid $90 for my long add a leaf from a spring shop, they bent the spring cut it to the length i wanted and drilled the center pin hole and the slip pad holes at the end because i wanted them. BUT the spring is not coated or anything and i had to put it in myself. At least ANY spring you buy will be coated in a heavy duty rust Resistance paint and match the factory springs. I prepped my add a leaf primed it and painted them and within a few m months they start to flake and rust and i have to wire wheel them and re-paint again. Yet the stock springs still are rust free.......

People keep referencing a spring shop but man, I don't think we have one in Raleigh NC. At least I can't find one.

The mis-matched leaf color and a little rust. My whole undercarriage has a little rust.

Big cities have them and sometimes they do other things also.

A quick Google search turns up:

Auto Spring Co
1323 N Liberty St, Winston Salem, NC 27105
(336) 723-7001

At a little over 100 miles, it seems to be the closest spring shop to your city.

Alright so I went with the Rancho long add a leaf, it only comes with replacement center pins. Will I need new spring pack clamps? Anything else? Anyone have a good write up on putting this thing on? I assume you open up the spring pack and stick it in?

-you will need two big six inch c-clamps and clamp them around your spring pack
-remove old u-bolts and lower axle away from spring
-slowly loosen the c-clamps after you remove the old center bolt
-after clamps are off install the add-a-leaf
-re-install the add-a-leaf into the pack, install center bolt
-get yourself a straight edge and make sure the springs are square with each other take a step back and look at the center bolt it should be straight up and down not on an angle front or back
-now completely tighten the c-clamp and tighten the center bolt with a hand ratchet ONLY
-lift up axle and install new u-bolts and torque to manufacture specs
