Small electrical success

I know this doesn't amount to much for many people, but there might be a few that get something out of it. I had the KC lights on the front of my truck when I bought it and they were not hooked up. Being terrible at electrical stuff I didn't hold much confidence in doing it right. But, I mimicked what was done for the headight harness I bought from LMC and ran it all through a relay.
From relay to lights, from battery to relay is one "line" on the relay with the 30 being out to the lights. Then I just needed to run a switch from the dash to one of the other remaining relay posts and the other to ground. The switch then was 2 pronged and just needed a hot wire on one side. I put them next to the WTS block and think they can out pretty clean.

The lights are awesome and I see them on ebay for cheap so I totally recommend it if you live somewhere that you can turn then on once in a while.

For me, this was a big electrical success and now I need to do the same thing for the second switch which will run my trailer lights in the back.

Anyone else want to post their lighting systems?

nice work! and I do live somewhere where I can turn them on and actually desperately need to install some. trouble is, there are so many options out there and such wide variety in prices, I don't know where to start. and I don't really have any friends/co-workers into this sort of thing, so I haven't done anything.

mind sharing the model number, or ebay link - if you say they're plenty bright, that's good enough for me.

my plan is a pair up front like you've got, then 2 or 4 up high on the backrack that I don't yet own. they'd be on swivel mounts so they could be made to point forward or backward. then I could actually get work done at night outdoors away from the house.

Here's 4 used ones on ebay for a starting bid of only $25
http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-KC-6in-light-covers-and-lights-/221227469523?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item33822f4ad3&vxp=mtr
Mine are a clear front lens and these look more like a fog lens. But they are 6 inch round lights and they are bright. You can probably even upgrade the bulb for something ridiculously bright!! The new kits run about $125 but that includes all the wiring and such. They'll look good on that ever-improving front bumper.

To think... I knew you when that bumper was just a dream in the garage!! lol

ha! its still mostly a dream! at least the brushguard and lights are still a dream. thanks for the info, though!

as I was writing my last post, I thought of a guy at work I could ask about off-road lights. just asked him and he said he has a spare set he never uses that he'll sell me. I may have to work on that brush guard sooner rather than later after all!

Sounds like you enjoy wiring about as much as me! Congrats on getting them working. I know nothing when it comes to relays..
