Hi,

I'm in the middle of replacing the front rotors. I have the hub off and can see, what I think is the spindle nut. It looks like a round disk with 6 flat spots around the diameter. It appears to be screw on. Is this the spindle nut?

It's a 1993 F350, 4X4, HP Dana 60 and automatic hubs.

6 Flats? Mine has 4 keys, and uses a standard D60 spindle nut tool. AZ has it for $20-$30. heres a pic of what's in mine. Is this what you have? http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...s/DSCN0567.jpg

Here's a picture of my '95-97 Dana 60 axle. It is also a 4 slot spindle nut.

I believe the 6 slot spindle nuts were used on older generations of Fords along with all Chevy Dana 60 axles.

Do they look like the ones pictured in this post?

It is not either one of the above. I called NAPA. They had the socket for $17.00. It is a 2 3/4" nut, but the nut has 6 flat sides and rounded edges. (hard to explain)
I'll put the socket part number up later for future refference.
