47 Panel Running Board Removal
Trying to get my son on here with his build thread. But in the mean time. Anybody have any experience with pulling the running boards of a '42-47 Panel? Does the under-door extension have to come off? The boards appear to be the same as a 1/2 pickup, but the body and door extension go right down to the board. I know we will never find the under-door extension, and although they are "rough", don't want to "hammer" them. They are tacked all along the door sill. We are pulling the body eventually, but maybe that is how (or easiest way) to get the boards off.
P.S. Anybody got any half-way decent 1/2T Running boards for sale? I'm related to someone who is interested.

I can't get it off!!!
I have a 42 ford 1/2ton p/u that I have redone over the past 4 years and the last thing that I have to do is the running boards. The ones that I have are not from a 42 ,they might be from a 40or 41 but either way they do not fit right. I pulled them off NOT AN EASY JOB and have been looking for a new set.... I thanks to FTE I found a place that makes them to order. American Muscle Car Parts 937-692-6100 Call and talk to them about the removal but you may have to cal many times before they answer...morty0071@hotmail.com

i dropped the 2 back running board rails that bolt to the frame unbolt the front rail from the running board and leave that one on the frame and slide the whole running board toward the back of the truck and lower it down..you might have to take the back fenders off atleast thats how i got mine off..hope this helps.
