looking to buy 67 f100 questions

I found a 67 f100 with a 352 y block, 46k original miles, 3 speed on the column with overdrive, and it was a local farm truck all its life.
I'm new to these years trucks so what should I look for to be wrong with it?
And it's in about average shape, not showroom not junky, so whats a asking price on it?

Main thing to look for is rust. Other than that, if it runs and drives fine, it's good to go.

If it only has 46k miles then it probably has minimal rust. I have 3 1967's--all former farm trucks with over 100k miles and all are badly rusted. In my opinion rust is the most difficult think to fix properly.

Price is a tough call because it depends so much on where you are--basically if you are in a rust prone area expect to pay top dollar for a rust free truck. Pricing is funny too because it seems like collecting these old trucks has really caught on.......bot not too many people want to pay a lot of money for them. It is a completely different game than the old muscle cars.

I can't put a price on a truck like that. If it were me, I wouldn't fuss about trying to get it for cheap if it is rust free. You won't regret paying over market price for a rust free truck. Make the decent offer to the seller and you will both be happy in the end.

not 100% true.. my 67 was a farm/work truck and i bought it right at 100k and theres no rust at all, just very light surface rust on top of bed sides.

but im in california.

not sure where the OP lives, but all depends on location

Agreed--I am in central Canada. Location is important, as stated in my original post. You are very lucky if you are in California, Arizona, etc. Most of us are not and most of the old trucks in our area are prone to rust.

The guys asking 3 for it...the tailgate has some rust, and the firewalls got surface rust but it doesn't look like anything major.
I'm looking for a daily driver out of it, so any wear parts that go bad around those miles?

$3K? That sounds like alot for a farm truck. Post some pics and let us see if the asking price is commensurate with its purported condition.

IMO, a 70-72 is typically a better buy cuz they are usually better equipped than a first-year truck of the series. Plus 67s have oddball, one-year only parts so be aware of their availability, as well as unavailability.

Miles take a toll as does age. Bet on replacing the steering linkages, suspension, and brakes.

Rust is expensive to fix if ya have to farm out the labor. Mo' better if ya got a welder.
