Help with exhaust layout

I'm finally going to do my exhaust..

Currently, the exhaust is just the stock manifolds into the stock pipes
That are connected by the flange where the converter bolts up.

I don't have the converter, don't plan on running one.
What I'm thinking is this muffler Dynomax® Performance Exhaust | Mufflers | Ultra Flo™ X Mufflers onto the existing pipes, and run the tailpipes
Out in front of pass. rear tire.

So, is that pipe 2 1/4? (97 F250HD 351)
I want a moderate deep note, but quiet-ish inside the cab.
Does this seem like a decent option? Trying to go low cost, easy install

If you are trying to keep it quiet in the cab, get the exhaust out behind the rear tire, rather than in front of it. I don't have any experience with that muffler, so I couldn't tell you what it sounds like. If you are feeling ambitious, buy some shorty headers to put in at the same time. You should get a pretty good boost in power, and efficiency.

That muffler should have a good sound and be on the medium side for sound level. I have the regular Ultraflow mufflers on my classic Mustang and think they sound awesome, but not obnoxious. I'd try just running turn downs in front of the rear axle. That usually sounds good and is less expensive and easier to do. If the sound level in the cab is too much, then run the pipes over the axle with turn downs.

The Summit shorty truck headers are well liked on here. They are reboxed Pacesetter headers.

Not even reboxed. They send you Pacesetters in a Pacesetter box. Real good quality, but come with paper garbage gaskets. If you get them, order a set of steel or copper core gaskets too.

Awesome. Thanks for the advice...
I can't find the link, but I found long tubes (I think pacesetter) on Summit last night for $139.. That'd be the way to I guess?

Headers will probably come at some point soon, but I just need to get this thing quieted down quick.

I have never done an exhaust before, and the layout I'm wanting to (Texasguy's idea basically) sounds pretty good to me. I think I can tackle it. Will I just need
To order everything 2 1/4 since I'm hooking up to stock exhaust pipe?
