Is my wastegate actuator bad?

So, I have a 99.5 F350 7.3l PSD with 180k miles
I recently put stacks on, tuned it [TS Performance], Cold air intake [K&N], and an Intake heater delete kit.

And all that made a huge difference but it seems At around 2500 rpms my turbo let loose of pressure and i have like no pull at all.

and also if i let my truck idle [which i know i shouldn't do] it makes the same wooshing noise and i have to either hit the brake or the throttle to stop it.

My guess is the waste gate actuator needs to be upgraded due to running too much psi?

And if so is it that much of a pain to do if i dont remove the turbo?

How cold is it where you live? Sounds like your warm up feature is activating.

The OEM wastegate starts to bleed off pressure sooner than some would like. You can try adjusting it to your preferences, replace it with a Big Head or some of the other products on the market. You might like the Turbomaster product. I've never used it myself but I've seen it on a truck or two and the owners seem to like the performance.

It's not too cold. But I did notice it hasn't been doing it much now that the weather is nicer over here in PA. I was looking into the BIG Head but ill look at the other one and start comparing.

Putting it in us gonna be a pain -__-

  1. The whoosh should only happen on a cold engine... and only out the exhaust pipe (not under the hood).
  2. I take it you have a boost gauge to know it drops out. What is the reading when she blows?
  3. You might be reaching defuel at 22 PSI.
  4. Remove the red line to the wastegate and plug the red line. This will not stop the defuel on an untuned engine, but a boost fooler on the MAP line will correct this.

I actually do not have a boost gauge but am judging but my assumptions haha.
And yes it is out the exhaust pipes. And I'm going to try your advice. Thanks

Not likely, but it's possible you'll get an overboost SES light for 90 seconds each time.
